Combined Medical Services Examination (CMS Exam) is conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) for recruitment of the post of Medical Officer in various organizations working under the Government of India. CMS Exam is conducted once every year by UPSC.

Eligibility Required to apply are as below:
– Age Limit: Candidates applying for this examination must not have attained the age of 32 years at the time of applying.
– Educational Qualification:For admission to the examination a candidate should have passed the written and practical parts of the final M.B.B.S. Examination.
NOTE:- A candidate who has appeared or has yet to appear at the final M.B.B.S. Examination may also apply.
– A candidate who has yet to complete the compulsory rotating internship is educationally eligible for admission to the examination but on selection he/she will be appointed only after he/she has completed the compulsory rotating internship.

Combined Medical Services Examination (CMS) Exam Pattern: The CMS examination will be conducted in two parts- written examination (500 marks) followed by personality test (100 Marks).

CMS Written Exam Pattern : The candidates will take the written examination in two Papers, each Paper carrying a maximum of 250 marks. Each Paper will be of two hours duration.

NOTE:– The written examination in both the papers will be completely of objective (Multiple choice answer) type. The question Papers (Test Booklets) will be set in English only.
– Negative Marking will be done for wrong answers marked by a candidate in the objective type questions.

CMS Personality Test :Candidates who qualify in the written examination will be called for Interview/ Personality Test to be conducted by the Union Public Service Commission. The Interview/Personality Test will carry 100 marks. The interview for Personality Test will be intended to serve as a supplement to the written examination for testing the General Knowledge and ability of the candidates in the fields of their academic study and also in the nature of a personality test to assess the candidate’s intellectual curiosity, critical powers of assimilation, balance of judgment and alertness of mind, ability for social cohesion, integrity of character, initiative and capability for leadership.
